Personal safety risks

Personal safety is a topic that has been subjected to various developments over the past few years. People have not only become more aware of potential risks but the subject is also increasingly placed within a much broader perspective.

Previously, personal safety risks were always assumed to be the more traditional kidnapping and threats. This led to a limited picture being formed; i.e. only directors or top entrepreneurs were at risk.

We are now seeing two shifts: not only has the number of people who are worried about personal safety increased, there are also more incidents that affect personal lifestyles.

This development is partially due to the rise of new technology and the internet, in particular.

Social developments, in combination with the opportunities offered by the internet, lead to people’s personal lives being affected more readily. Examples of this include hate-mail and threatening emails.

This has an enormous impact on people’s perception of safety, and can lead to people pulling out of their roles.
